congrats to the new american in our familia.
in other news, hubby and i went to the van's warped tour at the pomona fairplex. i really didn't feel comfortable going but he wanted to go so i was down for it. turns out it was wrong in so many ways.
a few years back i decided to attend a sebastian bach concert at the house of blues in hollywood. who is sebastian bach? look it up. my hubby has really unconventional music taste considering he is a korean fob. anyway, we went with his friends and it was a last minute deal. i was dressed in my jcrew attire. can you say, 'stuck out like a sore thumb'? anyhow, we were 4 asians stuck in the middle of a mob of old white people trying to hold on to their heyday. the funny thing was they probably didn't go digging through their closet to find what they were wearing but seemed like what they wore was what they put on a daily basis. black tight leather jackets. tight, tapered jeans. long frayed bleached hair, both men and women. i can appreciate the music but i prefer to appreciate it with my ipod or the comforts of my car.
now back to the future. hubby wanted to check out the vans warped tour since he had some free tickets, courtesy of work. ended up going after work. majority of people had already left. few bands were playing. nothing good. deja vu again. not only were we like one of a handful of asians that were there. most of the people were kids. it seemed like median age was 16 - 18. yes, i called teenagers, kids. i'm getting old. we probably were the only people there with white shoes. everyone else was wearing black vans. we probably were the only people there that didn't have a tattoo or a peircing. i probably was the only person that asked for napkins with my food. none were out available and they gave me this funny look when i asked for them. ended up leaving the place in the 30 minutes we got there. still it was memorable. hubby always makes sure i have memorable experiences.
