i noticed that the first grade transition
is huge. i've heard about this stage where the kids change so much.
we've slowly entered that stage.
1.
his pants from last year don't fit. he looks like such a big kid when
he comes out of school when walking out of campus with the
kindergarteners. it was only last year he was one of them.
2.
he's slowly learning how to lie. luckily they're about petty things.
example: i deliberately put ipad games that i took away from him due to
bad behavior (see #4) in a "mommy" folder on his ipad. he knows he's
not to play with those. i knew it was only a matter of time before he'd
go behind my back, but in a sense i wanted to test him. the innocence is
almost cute. he played with it and turned off his ipad where he last
left off, which were the games he was not to play with. i turned it on
and surprise! i wasn't so upset at that because it was bound to happen. i
just didn't know when.
3.
he said he HATED me. i heard about this many times with all the
mommies. i'm actually one of the last ones. anyhow, as he was having a
meltdown he yelled it out at me. he then froze for a minute and started
crying hysterically which made me feel better only because after he said
it he was horribly sorry that he cried about it. it was funny because i
discussed it with his teacher because i felt he was going through a
horrible phase (see #4). in response, she told me to get over myself.
lol. i guess it's a phase.
4.
obviously, the crying phase long passed because he was just trying to make an excuse not to go to school, but now boy is like bart simpson. (as i'm writing this, already the phase has
passed... i hope. so far so good.) boy was averaging detention 2x a week.
he had to sit in recess and write sentences. I WILL BE QIIT (sp QUIET).
lol.
5.
he is reading much quicker, math is quicker (yes,
he's asian), and is (hate to brag) smart. but the problem is he's not
putting it to use. he goofs off at school and is talking too much. it's so aggravating because he knows how to do everything and is getting perfect scores on his spelling tests, math tests, etc. but he's just not finishing his work because he just doesn't feel like it.
