what days off?!!

i don't think i'm ready to be a housewife. MIL and FIL needed a well deserved vacation so they decided to go on those korean tours and went to bryce/zion canyon. before they left, they decided to give hubby and i a date night for valentine's day.

as usual, hubby and i like to beat the valentine's day traffic so we went out on saturday. to be romantic, hubby thought of going to our wedding location, pacific palms. we walked around and reminisced. then we went to their newly renovated restaurant/bar, red and had a drink/appetizer.

guess which drink is who's? the foo-foo one is his.

then we shot some pool. i used to love shooting pool and remember the good ol' days. we made a wager. the loser had to plan out our anniversary. i know many wouldn't mind taking the task, but hubby has done it every year and he hasn't disappointed me... yet. plus, this year the task is a bit challenging since we have a little tag-along. any ideas for a 1 night - 2 day other than sd, sf, vegas, and palm springs, anyone? well, i lost but i plan on somehow weaseling my way out of it.

we then went to dinner at this place called the boiler recommended by Helen. apparently this guy worked at the oyster bar in palace station in vegas and decided to open his own restaurant in the middle of nowhere, chino hills. well, technically las vegas is also in the middle of nowhere. all i can say is, 'great food'. steam kettle cooking right in front of you in a bar setting. place was packed. we tried: oysters, steamed mussels, and the house pan roast. a bit over priced. hubby didn't like the oysters but i thought they were good.

hubby wanted to go to norebang, but i passed. all in all, it was a fun relaxing valentine's. this may have been a regular date night for anybody else, but it was definitely something different for us parents.

on sunday, this is all we did.

... and we did it well! j/k. i don't know of any 2-year old that lounges around all day like that. maybe for a couple minutes but then the next minute he'll be running/jumping around like crazy. he got a couple of fish today and was playing with them.

don't worry, he catches them gently...

... and lets them go.

monday was president's day. some worked. some didn't. i didn't, but hubby was suppose to. instead he took the day off and off we went to seaworld.

please ignore the whale to your left.
during the winter, seaworld closes early. i think it was 5. it didn't matter though because we normally stay about 3-4 hours. the only bad part is the shamu show only shows twice a day and today we missed it. instead, we just saw them in the back.

Connor also got to see nemo, dory, and crush.

he also got to see elmo in 4D for the first time and got to play in the huge 'playpen' as well. the only difficult part was going up the cargo net.

as you can tell, he had so much fun. you will also notice daddy in the background on his crackberry, checking his work email while in seaworld.

on tuesday, i took the little guy to the park. this may be stepping off a ledge to some of us, but to him this is jumping off something high. he wanted to show me he could jump.

we definitely spent some quality time but when MIL and FIL returned, Connor couldn't contain himself. it didn't help that they bought him balloons.

i guess he does this with FIL often. it's his version of UP. they let the balloons go as high as possible like a kite.
