Connor is under the weather. on saturday afternoon he started with a slight fever we began feeding him tylenol but only to have his temperature rise, which was followed by a runny nose. by the middle of the night it became really high we called our ped. have i told you how much i love her. we call the office and leave a message and she returns your call. it was past 1 am and she calls back. what kind of doctor does that??? this wasn't the first time either. i hate calling her but i felt it was necessary. she recommended that we go to ER if we couldn't drop his temperature and after feeding him tylenol and to no avail we headed to CHOC at 2:30 am. when we got there we did the ER thing which consisted of being poked and prodded, being heavily medicated, and waiting for 1 1/2 and actually being attended to for a combined time of 30 minutes between the nurses and the doctor. after examination, they concluded that he didn't show any infections in the ear or throat and told us to monitor his fever. we got home when the sun was coming up and slept only to wake up at 8:30 again. he continued to have a fever so we continued to medicate him throughout sunday. monday i stayed home to monitor his fever which he continued to have. by now his runny nose disappeared and he was poining at his throat saying, 'a-ya-ya' (hurting). it's such a relief that he can express himself so you know what's going on but on the other hand you feel so helpless because you can't do anything for him.
my baby sucking on ice to numb his throat. his eyes are swollen.

he continued to have a fever throughout the day and night so i called the ped and she suggested that i bring him in today if he continued to have a fever. i took him in this morning and she confirmed that his tonsils were swollen. she retrieved a urine sample to make sure he didn't have a bladder infection so he's clear there. with plans coming up next week she wanted us to bring him back in on thursday to make sure his condition hasn't gotten worse. she anticipates that he'll continue to have a fever until today and possibly tomorrow. hopefully he'll be okay by the time i go home.
