mom sent me on a quest the day before thanksgiving to try and get a
honeybaked turkey. we had called the one in west covina which is down the block from work. of course it wasn't going to be that easy. they were sold out already. they told us to call ontario which was the next closest one. no luck. called pasadena. no way in heck. so i decided to try the oc. i was thinking if i was lucky, there'd be one and i could ask hubby to pick it up on his way home. well, i got half lucky. they had some in tustin so i reserved one. the part i was unlucky about was having him pick it up on his way home. unfortunately, they close at 7 and there was no way hubby was going to get off of work that early. so i basically had to take half a day off work to go pick up a turkey. i wanted to make sure that i was going to miss the rush hour. it was wednesday, before thanksgiving. that's worse than a friday before the weekend. so anyhow, i left at 2 stopped by hubby's work with some starbucks (because i'm a good wifey) and went to go pick up the turkey. do you know how long i waited??? look at this line. it wasn't the end of it. i took the picture to show you where the entrance was.

anyhow, i was there for 40 minutes which wasn't too bad considering the line was really long. then it took me 2 hours to get home. my point was it was worth it. if you haven't tried it, you should. i think it's our 3rd year having it. if you're like me and not much of a cook, it's worth it. it's a little costly. a 12 lb. turkey costs about $50, but it's precooked, seasoned, etc. you just need to stick it in the oven. i know it's cheating.
